Natalia Vodianova Quits Modelling

Natalia Vodianova is believed to have retired from modelling following her last appearance at Valentino's final show.

The Russian supermodel has reportedly quit the catwalk after ten years in the business to concentrate on raising her three children, according to an unamed source.

"She may do another show in the future, but only for $500,000 or this large pink diamond she's had her eye on," the source told pagesix.com.
Comment on this Article

Vodianova hit the headlines last September when she took the runway for Valentino's S/S 08 collection just days after giving birth.

Valentino is a big fan of the 25 year old beauty and the pair even celebrated his retirement by spending a week in Moscow before heading to Brazil for Carnivale. (FFUK/PR08)

Kate Moss Models for Vivienne Westwood London Fashion Week Return

Kate Moss will be back on the catwalk for Vivienne Westwood's highly anticipated return to London Fashion Week next month.

The supermodel has not hit the runway for the last five years but will make a comeback for the Westwood show in February.

Kate is more often seen in the headlines or in expensive ad campaigns than actually on the catwalk but she couldn't refuse the chance to model for fashion icon Westwood.

Vivienne Westwood has been missing from London Fashion Week for nine years, but after the success of her second line Red Label, she will be showing the autumn/winter 08 collection this February.

This follows the likes of Luella, Stella McCartney and Marc Jacobs who have all chosen to return London to show their collections for the next few seasons.

Vivienne Westwood said: "We are back by popular demand. The sales of all of our lines are increasing and we decided that the Red Label, which is successful worldwide and so popular in the UK, should have its own show." (FFUK/PR08)

Who Will Be The Next Kate Moss?

Kate Moss celebrates her 34th birthday this week and now she's getting to that age when models start to think about retiring as wrinkles take their toll.

We've all seen the images of her looking older and slightly haggard as the years of partying and an excessive lifestyle are affecting her appearance lately but who is waiting in the wings to step into her fabulously fashionable shoes?

Kate may still be in demand, but there's plenty of new, young and brilliantly fresh-faced beauties snapping at her heels. Female First gives you a round-up of some of the hottest, and most stunning new models on the scene.

Agness Deyn

Of course, she had to be on the list. Named Model of the Year 2007 she is everywhere at the moment. Agyness is instantly recognisable with her cropped, platinum blonde hair and uber-hip city style.

Originally from Lancashire she was spotted in London and the 21-year-old has been in demand ever since. She is currently fronting high profile campaigns for the likes of Burberry and Georgio Armani. She is also best friends with cool new designer Henry Holland and the pair are often seen out at the all the trendiest East-London nightspots. She can do no wrong at the moment and is one of the hottest contenders to steal Kate Moss's crown as the Queen of the British fashion circuit.

Portia Freeman

London model Portia Freeman is only 19, but is already well on her way to the top, catwalk modelling for most of the major fashion houses.

Tipped as one of the most promising models at Select Model Agency she is also seeing Kate Moss' notorious ex Pete Doherty. The rock and roll boyfriend is the perfect accessory for an up and coming star and Portia also bears a strong resemblance to Kate, even modelling her range for Topshop last year. The similarities end there, however, as Portia s very clean living and anti-drugs. Maybe she'll be the one to help sort out Pete as well as taking the catwalks by storm.

Lily Donaldson

Another highly recognisable face in the crop of new British models is Lily Donaldson, daughter of photographer Thomas Donaldson.

Tall and long limbed she has appeared in just about every catwalk show going - and the advertising campaigns just keep flooding in. She was nominated for Model of the Year in 2005 and has been named as one of the favourite models of Lanvin designer Alber Elbez. She is currently starring in the latest Burberry campaign and can been seen as the face of Miss Dior Cherie

Chloe Hayward

Discovered while buying shoes in Topshop, Chloe Hayward then went on to be the face of the high street giant's winter 2007 ad campaign.

Signed to Select the 18-year-old has been compared to Julie Christie and Veronica Lake. After achieving excellent A-levels she decided to take a gap year to pursue her modelling career before she heads off to study at Birmingham University. Although we may not see much of her over the next few years Chloe is definitely one to be looking out for in the future.

Daisy Lowe

Kate Moss is just as well known for her partying and appearances at gigs around London. If it's cool credibility and rock and roll friends that you're after then Daisy Lowe has certainly got those boxes ticked.

Daughter of Pearl Lowe and Gavin Rossdale she has just signed up to be the face of Doc. Martens shoes and is appearing in more and more fashion magazines with her unusual and super cool sense of style. She might not be walking on the catwalks, but she's certainly at all the shows. Edgy and cool expect hip, up and coming British designers to be all over her very soon

So Kate Moss may still be one of the world's most beautiful women, and no doubt it'll be a very long time before she drifts away from the fashion limelight, but her time at the top is coming to an end and these new beauties are the ones to watch. (FFUK/PR08)

T. Le Clerc Powder

T. LeClerc stands for the owner's name, and how T.LeClerc got started? 1881, Thophile LeClerc kept a pharmacy near the Place de la Madeleine, the focus of luxury and elegance in Paris. He came from a family of painters, and showed a keen interest in color, light and beauty.

In his dispensary, he carried out research on make-up and developed a secret formula for rice powder which gave women an incomparable, velvety complexion.

I've been wearing T.LeClerc's cosmetic range for ages. First my mom bought them for me, and I've changed into other cosmetic brands so many times, yet I found this T.LeClerc's products are the best that suits my sensitive skin.

What I love the most is the color range. They have many ranges of pink, peach, and even purple, lavender, sky blue, khaki, light peach, and other various colors as you can see here, for their powder product range. The powder doesn't make my skin oily or too dry, feel so light on skin, but stay quite long (4-5 hours) to lighten up your look. With various color range, it will easier for you to blend the color that you love. Almost like prescriptives.

I love the casing too. It is so classic and simple. Yet elegant and look a bit industrial. The sizes are just perfect and compact enough as part of travel make up kit. Besides, they also have the feminine metallic pinkish packaing for the powder in travel kit size. Wonderful isn't it?

The last time I review about Bourjois, some Indonesian members (Vilia, Csakura, and Fehuang) told me that Bourjois is available in Indonesia. Supposed this T.LeClerc is also available in Indonesia? Anyone ever use this brand too?

How To Look Chic as Parisian Do?

I searched several definition of 'chic' and found only one that gave the most proper definition.

"What is chic? Chic is one of the few things which, refusing to bow down and worship fashion, is not crushed under the wheels of that Juggernaut. Chic is to fashion what poetry is to prose, cold veal to roast partridge, a gad-fly to a bull. What is chic may, in a sense, be fashionable, but what is fashionable cannot be chic.

Anybody can wear and do what is fashionable. It is not fashionable unless a lot of people do it, and have it on- until, in three words which grate rather hard upon the ear in this connection, it is common. Chic cannot be common. You cannot put on another person's chic, as you may her boots or her hats. You cannot copy it. You never knew where to look for it.

Fashion is incessantly trying to catch chic, but chic won't be caught. If fashion is the monarchy, chic is the revolution. It is the revolution whose watchwords are Liberty, Fancy, and Diversity. And remember, expensive stuff are shoddy. Not Chic." - Quoted and modified from The New York Times Article Archieves 1977.

After reading the proper definition of chic, I believe you already has a picture about chic in your mind. And now, we are going to find out, how to do it in a Parisian way.

1. Chic is about personality.
To express, chic is about liberty, fancy, and diversity. About personality and uniqueness. You can always find a Parisian lady with layers of clothes and look comfortable, or a lady with and effortlessly chic in a simple camisole and wrapped with layers of dramatic scarf. It has always about the taste and the style.

2. Chic is about culture.
Most people agree that chic usually refers to Parisian and some European country. It is said that European are rich in culture and have a higher understanding on their own skin. This shown best on the appearrances. You will never find a middle aged lady in a fitted dress and mini skirt, in Paris. You will never find a young lady in a grown up dress and make up. What you will find, mostly are people who use their own style and look grace in their own age. Kid act like kid. Middle age woman look elegant and gracefully. And the young lady look chic and not shoddy. We know what we buy, what suits us well, and what will look good on us. What celebrities wear are not an issue, no impulse buy and trendy is not even a word here.

3. Do effortlessly, or at least look like one.
Parisian lady never look too much. We always look natural and effortlessly chic. You will find our hair drop naturally, goes well with the wind blowing, curly or straight it always looks and feels natural. The make up will always natural and plain. We use make up not to change our face to look like a celeb and or a model, but to enhance our own natural beauty. Simply said, it is much better to look natural and effortlessly casual and chic, rather than too much effort for something that look too much.

4. Comfortable in Your Own Skin.
Means understand more about yourself. Don't be a fashion victim. Parisian never too shame to show their cellulite. We understand and proud of our aging sign. We never too shame to let others know how old we are. You will find Parisian lady in her white hair - loose skin, and still look as much elegant and graceful as the other younger or older lady.

5. Pay Attention On Details.
The apparels mostly are in basic cut and plain, if not then focus on the motive and or the color which usually not more than 3 colours. Pay more attention on details, such as the hat, the scarf, the bag, the boots, the shoes, the coat, the belt, the jewelleries, and many more.

6. Wear Gold and Pearl instead of Silver.
Paris is always about romance and elegance. Too much silver will make you looks like a rockstar or even a hippie, but too much of gold and pearl will only make you much more elegant and richer. Nowadays, rose gold is quite popular among Parisian and European. And the most important thing here is the quality of the materials. The better the quality, the simpler the style, the greater its value, and the higher the price will be.

7. Combine Vintage Stuff.
We value our lives and memorable each of them through some of our stuff. Combine vintage piece with your modern pieces, and create a romantic touch on your appearance. Though vintage not always means romantic, but vintage do have memorable value and higher personal touch.

8. Create Something Romantic.
The draps of the dresses, the layers of tops, the flows of the scarves, just create anything dramatic and romantic. Choose fabrics that smooth and light for the flowy effect, or heavy and drop perfectly. Choose knitted cardigan and long coat over jacket and blazer.

9. Details on Men's Apparels.
Wear scarf or syal to create the softness and feminine touch on mens' wear. Use knitted vest for casual and tailored vest for formal and special occassion. Wear hats if you would like to hang out and never wear a single casual t-shirt with jeans unless you are American.

10. Play Up a Little Bit.
Lines blue-white polo shirt, scotland square pants, red scarf with flower motives, wool coat, and flat pink boot. Oh don't bother about the mix and match, just use your senses and play up a little bit.

Are you ready to look as chic as Parisian?

Parisian Winter Kebaya

My modern kebaya. Thank you Vilia for helping me with the illustration. This is a modern kebaya for winter according to my style. :) Hee hee...is it able to be categorized as kebaya?

I don't know much about kebaya, haven't seen the real one and just heard about it few weeks ago. I love traditional costume, however. Thus, I try to create something using my style.

Fabric: Light wool
Application: Embroidery, beads and fur on the list and wrists.
Button: Wool ball
Belt: Satin ribbon or leather belt in black.
Bottom: Wool tight & flat leather boots

I love Fasity and its community. To me, Fasity is a great new way to share about fashion informations. The people are extremely friendly, helpful and fun. The most important thing from a fashion community is the people, if the people are great, it will become a very positive community, but if the people are bad then you will end up being in either a very destructive relationship or a very consumtive way of living. To me, fasity is perfect.

Thx all!

The Beret

Beret is very popular among French lady.

It is said that everyone has at least one beret on her wardrobe.

However, I have five beret in different colors and motives.

You could wear beret with painter style, army style, or just put it straight around your head to create a funky look.

The best way to wear beret is by letting your hair loose naturally, and put the barret in a slightly diagonal way that covers your face.

Pair it with syal and cropped jacket plus boots to create a very chic vibe. You can also wear it with your cocktail dress and T-strap shoes for a more feminine look.

However, do not pair it with your formal wear, since it will looks a bit cheezy and unfashionable. Interested to try wearing a beret?

Bourjois Nail Color

When the first time I saw this nail color, I was wondering why those nail color producers didn't even think about this idea ealier?

This Bourjois nail color has a wide brush which able to cover your nail in one swap. No clumps, no fuss. It is a great invention, isn't it?

Available in many colors, this nail color also dries very fast, only 1 second!

I use the red one and it stayed for two weeks without any scratch.
Quite a bargain, huh.

The Age of Plain Colors

I am dying of blue for now...er...at least for this season. Blue might not be one of the 'it' colors, but we could see blue was worn by the models on the runways, and was one of the hottest color on designers' collections. Mostly are navy blue, deep blue, and dark blue, while the rest are just plain blue.

The blue that I want was captured specifically and perfectly on Versace's latest collection.

Isn't it a great bright blue? This kind of blue could be worn on almost every seasons. Spring with flowery pattern, summer with hot magenta dress and black leather, fall with black boots and chartreuse, winter with grey and silver stuff. Amazing, huh?

While I love the blue, I love the fur bags, too. Simple, but fun enough and still chic combined with the formal wear. Imagine wearing this blue fur bag with a flowery and graphic motives maxi dress on summer.

Or combined it with white eyelet cotton dress on spring, black turtle neck and dark grey pencil skirt on fall, last but not least, silver dress with blue jewelleries for winter party. How about that?

Apart from the superb blue, I think the latest collection of Versace are magnificent. They play in plain colors and create a hip vibrant in a very modern yet classy way. Take a look at this and you might learn how to play with plain colors and create a classy feminine look with no more than two colors on your color pallete.

Yes, that was the grey and silvery color. The 'it' color.

This is the black. Leather as a dress? Now that's what I called innovation.

This is the white collection. Rather than naive and fairish, Versace made it more futuristic and edgy. The silver belt just perfect and the dress was elegant in a casual way.

So, what do you think? (VSPS/PRJKT/DSVC07)

Heimstone, The French Girl Style

ha5.jpgHeimstone is a new French based label. The idea for Heimstone was born while Alix Petit and Delphine Delafon were working at another French fashion company, Michel Klein.

Both of them have always been passionate about creativity, and their friendship that made them realize that they need their complimentary influences to completed each other and to create something unique.

While Delphine loves dark colours, passionate about rock and roll and grungy livestyle, Alix prefer something much more feminine in a more subtle colour and lighter fabric. The result of their combination is Heimstone.

Each piece of the collections were so unique and almost genderless. For example the military dress. It can be very feminine with stocking and T strap Mary jane, though it can be masculine with jeans and boots or keds.

More interesting, the accessories really put together all the soul when combined with the dresses. Either the long necklaces, and or the big belt, really give the soul to those who wear them.

hat.jpg

"The Heimstone girl is cool and edgy," says Alix. "But she likes comfort, like the pockets in our dresses." And that invisible French flair is evident in the Heimstone signature versatility.

"She can wear a Heimstone dress during the day with boots and then change to heels and be ready for the evening. The girl we design for would rather be too formal then too casual."

You can get moreinformation about Heimstone HERE. (VPPPV/PR/DS07)

Crochette Open Toe Tight

modtightsbig.jpg

Tight was the 'It' fashion stuff for seasons. We have them last Fall and we still will have them for this fall. The fashion forecasters even predicted that it will stay with us until next year. Wonderful!

First we know the original and classic black and white plain tight. Then fashion people started to make variety on the length. We have the full length from the toe to the waist, and half length, from the toe up to above the knee.

Then we have these massive multi colours around such as hot pink, yellow, orange, brown, green, etc... , and added with neon colour and some motives such as flower, leopard, etc. Most of them came in several colours.

Now, we have this crochette tights with open toe style. How superb is that! This goes very well with the open toe shoes which is also an 'It' shoes style for this season. Available in black and cream, this tight could be use as a legging too. Wear it with your ballerina shoes, platform shoes, and or with your boots to bring the Summer style into Fall's.

A really must-have one! Have fun!

Hottest Hollywood Celebrities' Salon

neil2.jpg
Ever dreaming to have a hair like your favorite Hollywood celebrity? Don't just dreaming around!

For you who lived in USA, particularly LA, you should have an appointment at this celebrities' hottest salon, Neil George.

Owning by British owners, hair stylist Neil Weisberg and hair colorist Amanda George, has quickly become the hottest salon for Hollywood celebrities. A-list celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz, Reese Whiterspoon, Rose Mc.Gowan, Shakira, and many more have been spotted out of the salon.

The ambiance of the salon combine the elegance of the 1930's with a modern ethnic touch. Of course, what's most expected from this salon are the most talented, vibrant, and forward thinking hair artist.

They were opening the salon in Summer 2005 with a clear vision, to create a context for creativity and excellence. Less than a year, and their concept has evolved into a highly reputable hair salon in Southern California and become one of the celebrities' favorite.

As I mentioned above, an appointment is a must. A month before is a good one, but you can try your luck by arranging the appointment a week before.
I was lucky enough, I had my appointment a week before my actual big day, cause a lady canceled hers minutes before.

I have to say, the "celebrities' hottest salon" nickname wasn't exaggerated. I was treated like a celebrity for a day.
neil.jpg
I had Neil for my hair stylist and Amanda to do my hair color (of course, I would like to know the actual quality by asking the owner to prove their big names to me).

Neil cut my hair in a very professional way. Fast, with a skillful hand, he created a very good thin shaggy on my long hair. Providing a shading for my chubby face and creating a better hair angle for my face.

The prove of his great cutting was still seen on my hair after 3 months. Though my hair grows longer, it is still put together and in shape.

Amanda did her job amazingly. She patiently and professionally explained about the colours that looks good on me, according to my personality, my skin color, and my natural lip color. Yes, your natural lip color influences your hair and total appearance a lot.

You must know some celebrities that look just as amazing as they were on the red carpet, even when they were just woke up in the morning, rite?
She chose dark brown layered by a lighter hazelnut color for my hair. And surprisingly, it made my skin looks much more radiant. I love the color so much! Even my husband gave a credit and I received many compliments from my friends on my hair looks.

Yes, I have to admit that their prices are a bit higher than usual salon you would meet just anywhere, but again, they are NOT just a usual salon you would find anywhere. Give it a try! You'll have a great hair for months, and who knows you might be sitting right beside Jennifer Aniston? ;)

How to Choose a Gloss

lg.jpgFinding the right lipgloss is not an easy job. Not every colour fits our natural lip colour. Too balmy and or oily will caused our lips looks gross.

Keep these essentials in mind when making your choice.

  • Consistency: Look for gloss that has a balmy, creamy consistency; it should feel emollient, not sticky.
  • Pigment: Good lip gloss should have some color to it- an even, vibrant wash. But beware of brands with too much pigment; you end up having to blot them down.
  • Scent: Unscented gloss tends to smell chemically, whereas some scented glosses can be saccharine sweet. Choose a smart gloss that has scent only on aplication and won't overwhelm you or others nearby.
  • Application: Lip gloss should always come with its own applicator. What woman wants to stick her finger into a pot of lip gloss? A brush is great, but it won't yield as much control as an angled, "doe foot" sponge-tip applicator.
  • Longevity: If a gloss has a good creamy base and a thorough, though not overpowering, pigment, it should last at least an hour on your lips. Gloss that's reapplied every hour or so will always keep a woman looking refreshed and put together.

Now, happy choosing! (VSPS/PRUK/DSMT07)

Body Icons Through The Decades

According to the results of the National Sizing Survey, women now have a straighter body shape as opposed to the hourglass figure, which is disappearing.
The study revealed that women's waistlines have expanded by 6in since the '50s. We look back over the changing shapes of the stars through the ages..
a1.jpg
THE 50'S
Back in the golden age, the western world was entranced by the notions of the feminine ideal represented by icon Marilyn Monroe: big breasts, pinched waist and slim legs, otherwise known as the hourglass figure..., attributes also demonstrated by the stunningly curvaceous Jayne Mansfield, one of the most celebrated Hollywood leading ladies of the day.
a2.jpg
THE 60'S
Slim hips and flat chests took the '60s scene by storm, as demonstrated by Twiggy, whose tiny frame embodied the look of the decade..., along with fellow model Jean 'The Shrimp' Shrimpton, by whom we were equally smitten.
a3.jpg
THE 70'S
A decade on, slim was still in, but the elfin look gave way to the tall, almost Amazonian shape of beauties Bo Derek..., and kick-ass Bond girl Barbara Bach, now Ringo Starr's missus
a5.jpg
THE 80'S
The powerhouse '80s era saw the rise of highly toned muscle definition and minimum body fat, as espoused by workout queen Jane Fonda..., and the lithe, long-legged Jamie Lee Curtis.
a6.jpg
THE 90'S
The waif-like figure of Kate Moss was revered in the '90s as the focus changed towards an adolescent, pre-teen look for women..., qualities also apparent in ultra-thin Gisele Bundchen.
a7.jpg
kate1.jpgThe Noughties
Half a century later and we seem to have come full circle: the buxom look came back with a vengeance, aptly demonstrated by the hue and cry over the ampleness of J-Lo's behind...,

and the curves of the lady with the most beautiful bottom Beyoncé Knowles.
However, although we may have got bigger, celebs aside, we're not generally as curvaceous as the '50s sirens.

Kate Winslet's 'straight' figure is more typical of the population as a whole, displaying less of a defined waist and a (slightly) more obvious tummy.
